so, today in physics, i had quite an argument. all of the people in my grade have to make these bill proposals for a gov class, and you get to pick what you do and it’s actually really interesting. my bill is on protecting women’s rights to abortions and our own choice in reproductive health. but today, this kid across from me in physics said some of the most anti-feminist bullshit i’ve ever heard when i told him about my bill.
"well can’t women just be more responsible?"
"I don’t see why you need to have sex if you’re worried about getting pregnant”
"but why should it only be up to the woman?"
"I don’t believe in feminism"
"I just think that you should be more careful"
so, naturally, I went off. i don’t think I stopped talking for a solid 5 minutes trying to explain how incredibly wrong he was. i got kind of loud because I was pissed, and some people overheard, and A GREAT THING HAPPENED. my teacher, instead of telling us to break it up, cheeRED ME ON.
but when i got to my next class though, people were asking me why i was still mad about the whole thing when i was telling my friend about it.
"you won, just let it go"
bullshit, the fight isn’t ever over.
if we keep thinking that we only need to get a little pissed to promote rights for everyone, THEN YOU’RE DEAD WRONG.
the fight for equality never ceases, and I plan to stay PISSED THE FUCK OFF AND FIGHT UNTIL I SEE SOME CHANGE.
